The Forrest Hill to Wairau Road Cable Replacement Project saw the installation of 3.2km of sub transmission power ducting. One Trefoil of 140mm PE and One 50mm PE DTS duct where a new sub transmission cable was installed inside to replace the existing faulty cable. The installation method was via Horizontal Directional Drilling and Open Trenching.
Joint Bays were excavated for cable jointing, a cross over of works between us and Vector’s cable installation contractor was managed by ourselves to ensure that all tasks were completed on time to ensure cable livening deadlines were met.
The project was priced and started during Auckland’s lockdown of 2021. The project was delivered on time and to the contract budget. We had many challenges on this job which included having to change between night and day works, high trafficable schools in the area, concrete roads and unidentified services.
We also had 0 resident complaints, 0 service strikes, 0 LTIs, 0 injuiries and 0 road user complaints.
We were audited by AT 6 times on this site and received 3 high standards and 3 acceptable which were very pleasing considering the location of the site.
This was one of the first projects delivered using our new Project Quality Assurance App in which we developed new forms to capture the quality of work completed allowing our client to have full visibility of the project and record keeping.
Well done to Don, James, Justin and their crews, as well as the Men at Work team for this achievement.
